CINDY SHEEHAN: TRAGEDY WHORE, VICTIM ADDICT

This case just won’t go away. This is a tragedy on more levels that you will ever hear of in the media.

Ms. Sheehan said someone nearby offered to let them use his land because “of when we got shot at last
week.” This woman has some major problems. Her grief has made her the willing and able participant
and victim of a sick dichotomy of American culture; those that want to grieve with her and those who
want to exploit her grief. The media has made her a victim again by describing her as “the mother of a
dead soldier living in a ditch outside the Bush ranch.” She has become addicted to victimization as
evidenced by her claiming to have been “shot at.” Had anyone been actually “shot at”, the local law
enforcement would have been making arrests – it is a felony to fire a gun at someone when not in fear
of your life. The citizen who fired the shots did so in the air and on his own property and investigations
determined that no crime had been committed.

She has stated that she would no longer pay her federal taxes because her son died and she shouldn’t
have to pay anymore for an “illegal” war. I have heard liberals use this term fairly frequently and it begs
this question: Which law did the President violate when he committed troops to Iraq? The very body
that writes our laws voted to authorize this use of force. Obviously, this body would know if it were
illegal, yet no member has made such a claim. I sometimes hear this in reference to the lack of
endorsement by the United Nations. I have even heard the phrase, “We went to war in defiance of the
UN.” This very utterance implies that the UN does or should have some type of authority over our
sovereign right to establish our own foreign policy. American sovereignty has been under attack from
within for years, but never so blatantly exhibited than by those who would relegate decisions of when
and where to exercise our military power to an organization which allowed 12 years of “defiance” and
issued 17 separate but toothless “resolutions” demanding compliance from a despot like Saddam
Hussein. Ms. Sheehan, giving lip service to “true patriotism,” uses the term “illegal war” without
realizing to whom she is lending the authority to write or enforce her implied law. This leads me to my
next observation.

I support the right of every American to remain willfully ignorant. But now that Ms. Sheehan has
thrust herself into the public eye and presumes to dictate foreign policy to our duly-elected commander-
in-chief, her right to remain ignorant quickly evolves into a responsibility to become informed. She has
not only demanded the immediate withdrawal of troops from Iraq, but has also attributed terrorist
attacks on Americans to our policy with Israel. Historical facts simply do not support this claim. Our
relationship with Israel has been used as an excuse to justify abhorrent behavior against both Americans
and Jews alike, when the truth is, it is our national immorality through individual freedoms and our
success as a nation that caused Islamic extremists to label us “The Great Satan” many years ago. Much
of our support for Israel lies in simply by being able to identify more closely with the Jewish ethic than
with that of the Muslims. In neither the Torah nor the Bible is it okay to slaughter hordes of non-
believers as is demanded in the Koran. Yet, despite that, we have come to the aid of ungrateful Muslims
time and time again in recent history. We stopped the literal rape of Kuwait by Saddam Hussein,
(imagine that – Muslims killing Muslims for wealth and power - yet still righteous). We repatriated over
a million Muslims who were defeated in the Yugoslav war despite the fact they have historically sided
with despots like the Kaiser and Hitler. We have liberated 25 million Afghanis from the tyrannical and
cruel regime of the Taliban. And we were the first to come running to the aid of tsunami victims in ’04
without regard to the fact that over 90% of those victims would not have done the same for us, as we
are the Great Satan to them. There were even children in pictures wearing t-shirts with Osama bin
Laden’s face emblazoned on them while they were receiving medical aid from “Satan.” So, in spite of its
pathological hatred for all who do not believe that Abraham was the chosen prophet of Allah, we have
supported them. None of that matters because we are infidels and since we believe in the right of all
people to exist, we have a strong relationship with the Jews (who are quite possibly the most persecuted
race of humans in the history of mankind), and therefore should be destroyed. Ms. Sheehan has since
apologized for her lecturing comment about our Israeli policy, but she doesn’t get to “unfire” that
bullet. This was a stark look into her actual motivation and ideology. She slipped from the rehearsed-
speech, talking-head, grieving mother role into her actual position as self-appointed of dictator. She
does not recognize that, in actual training manuals of al-Qaeda, murderers are encouraged to stay in for
the protracted fight because “Americans run as soon as they get a bloody nose.” Their greatest hope is
that we will cut and run from Iraq now. That would indicate total victory for the terrorists. But that’s
beside the point; she is the mother of a dead soldier, so she knows better.

The fact that she has gotten as much airtime as she has is symptomatic of a nation divided not within
itself, but within its media. I believe that is where this begins and ends. I believe that the average
American fears for our troops and grieves in their hearts with the families of the fallen everyday. I also
believe that most Americans believe as our grandparents believed – there is no substitute for victory
now. Our media has never gotten over Bush’s re-election (or first election, for that matter) and has
taken on a campaign to illegitimate his administration from the outset. Cindy Sheehan and her vigil is
not a news event. It was the first time it ran. Now it is not. Any news editor or producer worth his
salt would have pulled the plug on this story weeks ago. But because it is potentially damaging to the
President, they keep breathing air into this dead horse. The President has met with her, yet no one in
the media (save a very few) are printing her very positive remarks from their first meeting.

Late in the grieving process (and often last) is anger. She may very well be in that stage of grief and I
deny that from no one. Not only are the media capitalizing from her grief, they are in fact feeding it.
When the grieving get angry, they often affect those around them by their actions and they are often self-
destructive. This stage is where the blaming usually begins. Grief often destroys marriages and breaks
up families when not properly counseled (and often when it is). Ms. Sheehan’s actions in response to
her grief has destroyed her marriage, estranged her family and removed her from reality. She has, in her
mind, transformed from a grieving mother to ardent diplomat set out to change the world. The
circumstances that have brought her here are truly tragic, but not nearly as tragic as the enabling of
further destructive behavior by the media. The President should not meet with her again. To do so
would only make him an enabler, too. There is nothing he can say to assuage her grief that he has not
already said. She doesn’t want to meet with him for comfort. She wants to meet with him to lecture
him. To get to do that, you have to show some real qualifications; and being the mother of a dead
volunteer soldier just doesn’t quite add up to those qualifications. I have wanted to lecture Presidents
and politicians myself, and often do in the form of letters to the editor, my website, or my radio show
(in the old days). I do not camp out on his front door demanding that he recognize my social and
political expertise.

Unfortunately, Ms. Sheehan is twice a victim. First, she lost her son. The pain of that must be
unbearable. She is also a victim much like prostitutes are victims of their pimps. She has become the
tragedy whore of the media and Americans can’t wait to talk about it, watch it and feed it more money.
If we don’t get her some real help and get her out of the public eye, we are setting her up for a huge
emotional crash. She doesn’t realize that her pain would not go away if Iraq turned in to a paradise of
peace tomorrow and all our soldiers were at home safe. In fact, she would be left in the cold, as she will
be when the media feeding frenzy dies, wondering how her family could have left her when she needed
them most and wondering where all these people went who claimed to care so much. The truth is she
has left her family when they need her most and even more sadly, she has left reality. She needs grief
counseling, privacy and time to heal in a healthy environment. What she’s getting is a one-way ticket to
an emotional breakdown from which she may not survive.

Maybe we are the Great Satan.

A friend and I were exchanging e-mails about Sheehan. I have omitted his comments and edited mine
so they can stand alone. If you have time, read on.

It was the Communist News Network that led with the Cindy Sheehan story for 4 consecutive
programs. It was (p)MSNBC’s Chris Matthews who actually asked Ms. Sheehan if she was going to run
for office!! Are you kidding me?!? Run for office?? She has betrayed the memory of her son, destroyed
her family and became a puppet of the radical left and this moron actually entertains the thought of her
running for a public office? Does he know anything else about her? Of course not. All he needs to
know is that she has Michael Moore’s support and she has national attention. That’s how shallow the
pool of leadership has become in the Democratic Party. Does she honestly seem intelligent enough to
hold the responsibility of public office? You people act like W is a buffoon – this woman is your
answer? I would think that since we have learned that W had a higher Ivy League GPA than the hero
of North Vietnam John Kerry, maybe you would try to choose someone who could at least FAKE some
intellect. But then again, what do you expect from a party who selected Howard Dean as its Chair. For
that reason alone I would be embarrassed to call myself a Dem (forgetting that Bubba humiliated an
entire nation from that party). Oh wait – you have the “smartest woman in the country” who is coming
to save us all. Enough said. PLEASE talk Cindy into running for ANY office, but the Senate in
particular. That’s a guaranteed Republican victory. The former FBI whistleblower is going down to sit
with Cindy as well and she’s running for office in Minnesota. There’s another Republican victory
waiting to happen. If I changed the channel often enough, I could get 21,000 mentions of Cindy
Sheehan in the media. 21,000 mentions in 12 days (VideoMonitoringService). Is this really that
newsworthy? There are nonprofit organizations that work very hard to support our troops and they
haven’t gotten 21k mentions in the press since the war began. But this woman gets all this attention
because the press despises this President. Back to my point of her being a tragedy whore being pimped
by the media.

I go on record right now as fully supporting anyone's endorsement of Sheehan and all of those nutjob
organizations with their hand up her ass working her lips. You are making sure we remain in power.
In case you didn’t learn from the last election, the American people will like you much better if you
reject the George Sorros and Michael Moore types. But, go ahead – make my election. As far as Bush
“going on with his life,” that is the best advice for Sheehan. He owes her NOTHING. I refer you back
to my original message for the best reason why not and I support it further with this. At what point
would it stop if he began meeting with every pissed off person who was willing to destroy his/her family
by camping out at his door? Do you think he could do the business of running this country? How long
do you think that line would be? Do you think he is not conducting day-to-day business of the
President from the ranch?

I take Sheehan to task for her comments because she is using her son’s memory to be the mouthpiece of
a segment of our society this country flatly rejected in the last election. She has called our President
“the worst terrorist in the world.” She has said that this country isn’t worth dieing for. She has called
Bush a murderer. She has placed crosses bearing the names of the war dead whose families resent and
reject her opinions and actions and is using their sacrifice to further her own radical agenda without
regard to how it may effect their healing. She is a delusional tragedy whore sporting her wares not for
the memory of her son, but to further the political cause of bringing down this administration. Cite for
me ONE “good question” she has posed. Cite for me what credibility she has to pose these questions to
the most powerful leader in the world. Don’t tell me because her kid died; he has already honored that
sacrifice by meeting with her the first time. She has been allowed to say anything she chooses and no
one calls her on her lack of facts or her reprehensible use of other fallen warriors to further her cause.
She is a disgrace matched only by those who are feeding off of her.
